Matteo Borri, has invented a really magic thing for 3D printers and CNC devices. The L-Cheapo Mark 3 diode laser cutter/engraver with 3500 mW (3.5 Watt) output is a perfect accessory that adds new abilities to your 3D printer or CNC mill/router, which you can use now in a way you have never done before. A 3.5 Watt purple laser diode (445 nm) that can run continuously without additional cooling gives the Endurance L-Cheapo cutter/engraver plenty of power to burn through acrylic, wood, plywood and leather up to 1/4″ (6,5 mm) thick (some experiments showed that it can cut even 1/3” (8,5 mm) of wood and plywood with multi passes.

The ability to work with leather opens up the possibility for translating all those complex intricate designs you have in mind to physical reality. The laser can also be used to ablate material, creating arbitrary 3D relief (something that expensive CO2 lasers cannot do!), though it should be mentioned the high temperature blackens most materials.

We inform that now Endurance L-cheapo 3.5 watt diode lasers has PWM controller. Controller allows you to change power output while engraving. Controller is a 3rd wire that connects to your 3D printer or CNC router. It is very easy to setup:

  1. Connect the white wire to the PWM output of your control board
  2. Set PWM frequency of max 10Khz
  3. Use normally according to the control board manual
  4. Remember that below 15% the laser will not turn on at all
